Tesla just announced details about it's long awaited Tesla Truck - aka the CyberTruck. Information about the truck had been held in secrecy for a while now likely due to all the recent entrants into the electric vehicle market. Now it's official - this is the official image of the Tesla truck...
Seriously! That's it! the Blade Runner design speculation was real. My initial thoughts while watching the presentation was that it was a joke because the design looked awfully like a ‘never to be produced’ concept vehicle. It’s certainly the most futuristic looking truck I’ve ever seen. The bullet proof body (9mm bullets) and glass (questionable since the live test failed) is a really cool feature.
The price point, leap forward in design and the fact that it’s a Tesla (electric, auto-pilot, car tech) is really compelling. I’d get one to replace my heavy gas guzzling Range Rover.
Price starts at $39,000
It will come in three options tiered by battery range and RWD/AWD options. The Single motor option can travel 250 miles, the Dual motor AWD option will go 300 miles and the top range the Tri motor AWD will travel a bar topping 500 miles. Add an additional $7,000 for self driving.
